Direction and Screenplay Writing:

Direction:-  Film direction is one of the most complex of art forms. A process so diverse that it needs you to learn every aspect of filmmaking thoroughly to be able to master the form. You might have a brilliant idea for any form of film in your head, but to execute it you need to acquire specific skills to bring the idea into reality. There are several ways of learning the craft. You can train under a veteran filmmaker and learn the craft while at the job. But here comes the stumbling block. In any professional set up, the master whom you are observing will neither have the time and patience to teach you the craft specifically. So at best, like a diligent disciple you have to exert yourself and go through a process of self-learning by observing the master’s craft. In this way, the skills and film grammar required for a critical film practitioner will be a long and tedious process.

At a film school, you are taught specifically to learn the grammar and aesthetics of the film language in theory and practice. It is akin to learning any other specific skills like engineering, medicine or even fine arts like painting, dancing, theatre etc. At any intensive film school, your eyes open up to the wonder of cinema, through viewing internationally acclaimed films, learning the basic syntax of film language .

Screenplay Writing:-  Writing a screenplay is like taking a long journey into an unknown territory. One must venture into deep crevices of human psyche and unveil multitude of complex strands to construct a plausible narrative. A screenwriter is the one who breathes initial life into the characters and their worlds. While fastidiously turning the wheel of  cause and effect, screenwriter is able to find their voice through writing.

Whether you are a writer looking to understand the fundamentals of writing for film in long or short format, this unique screenplay writing course at MITSFT has invaluable inputs to offer you. Using detailed analyses from both canonical and contemporary film scripts , students will discover how to maximize the impact of their stories by using compelling characters and scenes. Cinematography:

Cinematography:- The name comes from combining two Greek words ‘kinema’, which means movement, and ‘graphein’, which means to record.

The cinematographer or director of photography is the person in charge of actually shooting the film. He is the head of the camera and lighting departments. The director of photography is often called a painter, and his canvas is the screen. Renowned cinematographer, Gordon Willis says, “A cinematographer is a visual psychiatrist - moving an audience through a movie ... making them think the way you want them to think, painting pictures in the dark.”

All student films at MITSFT are shot on professional-grade digital high definition film equipment. Students begin working with the Canon 5D Mark III, then progress to larger, more demanding cameras like the Sony FS7 4K Cinema Camera designed as a camera that is at home on productions as diverse as CinémaVérité style documentaries, reality TV, commercial and corporate applications Sony's PXW-FS7 XDCAM Super 35 Camera System is a flexible 4K camera system.
